# Competitors

This article explains how to analyze competitor visibility in AI-generated answers and use those insights to improve your brand’s positioning.

The Competitors section helps you understand which brands appear in AI-generated answers, how their visibility compares with yours, and where opportunities exist to improve.

In AI-generated answers, visibility is relative. AI systems rarely mention a single brand in isolation - they compare, recommend alternatives, and highlight leaders based on perceived authority and relevance. This means that your AI visibility **is directly shaped by how competitors are positioned, which sources support them, and which prompts they dominate.**

The Competitors section in Limy helps your and your team understand who is winning AI-generated conversations, why they are winning, and where opportunities exist to shift that balance.

### How Limy recognizes related brand entities

Limy begins with a brand name and its common products or models. As AI responses mention related names alongside the parent brand, Limy learns those associations.

Once an association is confirmed, Limy can attribute standalone mentions of that product or model to the correct brand. The association is also applied to earlier responses.

The total number of registered entities is not a useful comparison by itself. What matters is whether the important brand, product, and model names that affect visibility are recognized.

### Using the Competitors section, you can:

* See which competitors appear most frequently in AI-generated answers
* Track competitor visibility trends over time
* Identify prompts where competitors outperform your brand
* Understand which sources influence competitor mentions

This allows teams to move from anecdotal assumptions about competitors to data-backed insights grounded in AI behavior.

### To review a prompt in more detail, click Analyze. You will see:

* The prompt
* The AI-generated answer from each provider
* A comparison of your brand and competitors
* The providers included in the analysis
* Sentiment for each brand
* Sources influencing the response

This helps identify whether competitors are gaining or losing AI presence relative to you.
